Again! members of PM4H team participated in the VI Hackaton Salud in the Grünenthal challenge for Voice in chronic pain and won!!!

Continuing with the work developed in the Emergency Department of the Hospital General Universitario de Valencia (HGUV), Angeles Celda nurse in the ED of the same hospital, Dolores López anesthesiologist and pain expert also in the HGUV, together with Carlos Fernandez-Llatas and Gema Ibanez-Sanchez, composed PAINKEY team.

The GRÜNENTHAL Voice in Chronic Pain Challenge is aimed at finding digital solutions based on voice (voice assistants) to improve the care and quality of life of patients with chronic pain. All kinds of innovative digital initiatives may be presented in the fields of digital health, applications, video games, medical devices, Big Data systems, etc. that meet the objective of the challenge. The detailed requirements of the challenge will be defined by healthcare professionals and patients prior to the Hackathon. The proposition combined process mining and a mobile application in emergency departments with the aim of identifying, typifying, and managing patients with pain in an agile way. The organization awarded the PAINKEY team with 1.000€ to contribute to the development of the proposal, as a complement to the work done with process mining.

First Edition E-NNOVA HEALTH Awards

DiarioMedico and Correo Farmacéutico editorial unit has organized 1st edition of E-NNOVA HEALTH’21 Awards where our colleagues won on the Digital Transformation category

The first edition of the E-nnova Health Awards has recognized 68 initiatives that have contributed to the digital transformation of the sector. In order to recognize digital initiatives in health that add value, contribute to the sustainability of the system and improve the quality of life of patients, Diario Médico and Correo Farmacéutico, leading specialized media in the health sector of Unidad Editorial, have created the E-nnova Health 2021 Awards, whose awards ceremony was held on 10th November in Madrid.

The objective of these awards is to promote the culture of digital transformation in the health field, recognizing the work carried out by institutions, health administrations, professional organizations, employers’ associations and companies that turn their efforts into exploring new horizons in the world of Medicine and Pharmacy, and improve efficiency and quality of care.

The awards have been distributed in different territories of Spain, distributed in six categories: Big Data and Artificial Intelligence, telehealth and E-Learning, digital empowerment of the patient, IoT in e-Health and Wearables, robotics and digital transformation

Workshop on Process Mining for Health

Dr. Carlos Fernandez-Llatas from the UPV-SABIEN group has given a talk about Process Mining and the added value of its application in Health in the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería del Diseño.

The workshop has brought Interactive Process Mining (IPM) paradigm closer to the students of the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería del Diseño of the Universitat Politècnica de València. They have been able to see the added value that offers this technology in the real world through several examples in different contexts such as the detection of human behaviour in nursery homes in Galicia, or the Emergency Room case in a hospital in Valencia.

Interactive Process Mining implements the concept known as full-crawling that can show information at different levels, from the process perspective until the patient level. IPM is able to abstract the process data and synthesize this information in a unique number that later on can be represented in different ways.

To involve new professionals and make them understand the added value offered by the technology is critical to bring the digital transformation to the real world.

4th International Workshop on Process-Oriented Data Science for Healthcare

In recent years, a new discipline has emerged combining traditional process analysis and data-centric analysis: Process-Oriented Data Science (PODS).

An initiative of the Process-Oriented Data Science for Healthcare Alliance within the IEEE Task Force on Process Mining. The 4th International Workshop on Process-Oriented Data Science for Healthcare will take place in Eindhoven (The Netherlands) on November 1, 2021. Interactive Process Mining-informed Change Management methodology for Healthcare

PM4H core is the Interactive Process Mining (IPM) methodology, which uses the Process Mining application known as PMApp as mean to interact with health professionals to find relevant information for them.

These interactions are guided by the recently created Interactive Process Mining-informed Change Management methodology for healthcare. IPM is a disruptive technology with a lot of potentials but like any change, need to be managed to make this process going smoothly.

This methodology is used in VALUE project in six use cases to be implemented in Centro Hospitalar e Universitario de Coimbra (Portugal), Karolinka University Hospital (Sweden), Erasmus MC University Medical Center (Netherlands), Vall d’Hebron Hospital (Spain), Instituto de Investigación Biomédica de Salamanca (Spain) and Servicio Madrileño de Salud (Spain). PM4H around the world

Thanks to PATHWAYS project, IPM word has been spread around Europe during 2019. The first workshop took place on 16th April in Valencia (Spain) in the Hospital Universitario Doctor Peset, with 19 participants.

Due to the special interest of the manager of the hospital in the tool, it was organized an especial edition of the workshop for managers, directors, and heads. The aim of this session was to highlight the added value of the tool and the benefits for the hospital. Because of the geographical proximity and the collaboration between several units and professionals with the Consorci Hospital General Universitario de Valencia, it was also organized a new edition of the workshop in this hospital on 24th May.

One week before, on 17th May, another workshop took place in the premises of the Hospital da Universidade de Coimbra (Portugal), in which 26 people participated. The workshop raised a considerable awareness and interest of the Portuguese Hospital Managers community who invited the PATHWAYS consortium to organise a similar workshop in Lisbon at the Associação Portuguesa de Administradores Hospitalares.

Since this association is present at the national level in Portugal, they wanted to bring the opportunity to know more about PM technologies applied to health to their contact network. Albeit it was the first contact, many of the assistants expressed their interest in continuing using this technology. This edition took place on 29th October in Lisbon.

Sweden was also another of the countries that welcome one of the editions of PATHWAYS workshop. In this case, it was on 10th June at Karolinska University Hospital in Stockholm, and where several datarodeos were carried out in order to complete the training of the participants. The last workshop of the year was Fundación San Juan de Dios that took place on 12th December in León (Spain). They were interested in applying IPM in the hospital to improve the hip break process, but due to CoVid-19 it was postponed and this process is still ongoing.

In addition to the workshops, it was organized a seminar in October, in Stockholm for the students enrolled in the Medical Informatics Communication Systems course in the program master offered in the Royal Institutet of Technology. Besides, an evangelization event was also organized in Stockholm on 25th November, but this time at the premises of the New Karolinska Solna.

A new release of PMApp is coming

PMApp is a Process Mining-based application that has never stopped to evolve in the last years and is being renewed inside and outside.
